Quilt Festival in Korea is presenting 13 Korean art quilts under the title of "Blooming!", at the European Patchwork Meeting from 15th to 18th September. The title signifies the season when you set the beginning of a year but nobody cannot point when it exactly begins. Usually it is still chilling or even freezing, even when you recognize the winter is over. However, you can hear the prelude to spring in this season. Flowers have started to bloom, people smile at each other. The pandemic seems to be over but we cannot declare its end and have to be careful as ever. Nevertheless, we can endure winter just by believing there must be spring soon. Please visit espace d'Exposition, Lièpvre to say hello to the beginning of a new era.
봄은 시작을 의미하지만, 여느 시작이 다 그렇듯 정신을 차려보면 이미 시작한 다음일 때가 많습니다. 며칠 전만 해도 바람이 시렸는데 어느 새 꽃망울이 움튼 걸 발견하는 것처럼요. [Blooming!]은 그런 계절의 낯선 기분을 담은 퀼트 작품으로 구성해 보았습니다. 완연한 봄은 아니지만 봄인 건 분명한, 밖에 나가면 으슬으슬한 早春. 감기 걸리기도 딱 좋고, 아사모사하고 아련한 느낌이 아주 시의적절한 주제가 되었습니다. 세상을 꽁꽁 얼어붙게 만들었던 펜데믹이 이제 다 끝난 것 같은데 언제 다시 문을 걸어 잠가야 할지 아무도 장담할 수 없습니다. 그래도 도로 예전으로 돌아가지는 않는다는 확신이 드는, 그래서 더 조심해야 하는 세상의 간절기. 하지만 모든 겨울은 다가올 봄의 서곡입니다. 기다리기만 하면 봄이 온다는 사실만으로도 겨울은 더 이상 춥지 않습니다.
